Experience

Priviet! That's pronounced "prev-yeht" in English and is the informal "hello" in Russian. You've learned something new already! I graduated summa cum laude from the University of North Florida with two degrees: a B.A. in International Relations and a B.A. in Philosophy (I also minored in Literature). Right now, I am an aspiring law school applicant hoping to focus on International or Foreign Policy Law. You might be wondering, "Why is this person teaching me Russian, and what does any of this have to do with tutoring?" First, I believe it is best to approach learning with enthusiasm, and I am always striving to learn new things that will broaden my horizon. Learning a second language is one of many ways to do that! Second, I know how difficult learning can be, especially when it doesn't intuitively 'click.' Trust me, Russian grammar is not easy. Keeping this in mind, I approach tutoring with a positive and creative outlook. A happy, confident student creates a more successful test taker! Beyond this, I begin with a review of the basics to ensure all of the conceptual building blocks are in place to move forward. I also try to keep study material relevant and interesting, and I like to teach concepts by using a student's favorite hobby or area of interest. Finally, I take into consideration each student's individual skill level and create a lesson plan based on their needs. As my degree background is highly cross-disciplinary, I have taken dozens of courses in writing, critical reading, literature, government, general social science, history, and political science. I am happy to work with students of all ages on grammar, writing, reading comprehension and analysis, literature, research, long-term projects, as well as social studies subjects including but not limited to human geography, government, and world history. I have written countless papers on these subjects myself, and have successfully assisted many students with their assignments and test prep.
