Experience
I taught multiple subjects at the middle school level for 8 years before becoming a Literacy Coach for the past 11 years. My job included training teachers in best teaching practices as they relate to reading and writing. I also have tutored at all grade levels off and on for the past 10 years. I co-wrote the elementary curriculum for the Harlem Renaissance celebration at the LaVilla a Museum and a Ritz Theater here in Jacksonville. The curriculum is still being used when elementary students attend the field trip. I also have tutored adults that are speakers of other languages. I want to tutor children in reading and writing because I think that it is inexcusable that in the U.S. we have such a high illiteracy rate.
