Weekdays in the evening
EducationI am a two time Ivy League graduate. I graduated from Dartmouth College in 2005 with my bachelor's in Economics, and I recently graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a M.S. in Statistics, Measurement, Assessment and Research Technology.
ExperienceI have over 15 years of tutoring experience, and I've tutored failing students from F's to A's in Algebra, Statistics, Economics, Spanish, and a host of other classes.
My love of Math comes from a love of dealing with numbers. Despite people's belief that they are unable to learn Math, I believe that everyone is capable of it -- it all depends on who is on who is teaching you and how you learned it. As a former math teacher of mine used to say, "Math is not a spectator sport." As such, I like to give progressively challenging assignments so you not only understand the basics, but you also understand math at another level.
I have a passion and love for the Spanish language and how the culture and the language influence each other. In addition to taking Spanish all four years during high school, I also minored in U.S. Hispanic Languages and Literature while at Dartmouth. I've traveled to Spain and for 4 months I lived in Montevideo, Uruguay studying the culture and language. Most recently, I taught introductory Spanish to adult learners for 3 years.
I believe that anyone who embarks upon seeking out a tutor should expect to learn the material requested. My goal is not only to meet that goal but to exceed it. I want to not only teach you the skills needed to learn the material, but to also learn where to find help when you need it. Ultimately, my goal is to make you so confident on a topic that you no longer need me anymore.
HobbiesIn addition to my academic loves, I also have a deep passion for music, specifically, classical and baroque music. I've had formal classical training on the following instruments:
As a result of my training, I've been a part of a few orchestras, giving me to opportunity to travel across the world for orchestral competitions or tours.
